Can you give us some background on how you got involved with the Earthquakes?

  • Well we have been fans since we moved to San Jose. My first game was at Buckshaw Stadium and we have been taking our kids ever since they were little.

You have seen pretty big changes with the club, what has been like to see the Earthquakes evolve?

  • Oh it’s been awesome! When the stadium came up and the chairs with the code I thought it was super cool and very San Jose. We are nerds even with our sports. It was amazing when we came for the first time and saw the open space. It is always a party vibe and very community focused.

What have been some of your favorite memories as a fan?

  • There is one, there were a couple of photos. We always take a selfie when we come to games. All four of us were sitting in a row, and it was such a great photo we used it for our holiday photo that year. Then my brother in law took that photo and made it into a puzzle. And now we have that puzzle, which is actually really hard because there is so much blue. But that would be my favorite memory that got turned into a puzzle.

Who are some of your favorite Earthquake players?

  • I got to not only watch but meet Wondo recently. Obviously also Ebobisse is so much fun to watch. It’s so great though because all of the Quakes players are so involved with the community so we have gotten to meet a handful at different events over the years.

What does it mean to you to be honored by the club with the Devotion Scarf?

  • I think it’s so cool. So this part of San Jose was not in my district. So I have been a council member since 2017 and it got redistributed into my district and as a fan I was really excited to get PayPal Park. It’s been really great to represent it officially, not just unofficially now. So it’s really an honor. I was really surprised.

Is there anything you want to let the community know or anything you want to say?

  • I think it’s really great that we have a professional soccer team because it’s such a popular and growing sport. For the city of San Jose, it’s a culturally relevant sport for our community. So it’s great that we have the Quakes so that we can not just be fans of a local team but it’s a uniting factor for our city. The fact that the Quakes always do the neighborhood nights, I love that the Quakes are so active in the community and also bringing the community here.
