Bernardez called to Honduras National Team for upcoming friendlies

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes defender Victor Bernardez has been called to Honduras national team duty ahead of friendlies against the United States and Mexico.


Bernardez, 32, has 78 career caps with Los Catrachos. He was a part of Honduras’ FIFA World Cup squads in 2010 and 2014. Bernardez is in his third year with the Earthquakes. He signed with the club on Dec. 28, 2011 following a three-year stint with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht. He has five goals and three assists in 72 regular season appearances with the Quakes and was a 2012 MLS Best-XI selection.


Los Catrachos will face Mexico on Thursday, Oct. 9 at Victor Manuel Reyna Stadium in Chiapas, Mexico and the United States on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. (5 p.m. PT / ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas).
