Revenge Seekers

The Quakes are looking to exact revenge on LAFC after disappointing results in 2018. The last matchup between these two teams at Avaya Stadium resulted in a 4-3 victory for the road side, and equaled the highest-scoring MLS match in the venue’s history.

Another Victim

Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski has scored two goals against LAFC in their short history. Only two players have scored more against the second-year side than Wondo (Ibrahimovic – 3; Piatti – 3).

International Duty

Eight Quakes players competed for their respective national teams during the most recent international break. Harold Cummings and Anibal Godoy (Panama), Vako and Guram Kashia (Georgia), Marcos Lopez (Peru), Nick Lima (USA), and JT Marcinkowski and Jackson Yueill (USA U-23s) will all be returning to San Jose prior to Saturday.

Godoy and Cummings Compete against Brazil

Earthquakes duo Anibal Godoy and Harold Cummings were both in the starting XI for Panama in their 1-1 draw against powerhouse Brazil on Saturday.

Homegrowns in Action

Homegrown players Cade Cowell, Gilbert Fuentes and Tommy Thompson all competed during Saturday’s international friendly against C.F. Monterrey. The other Homegrowns have also been busy, as Nick Lima remains with the U.S. National Team; JT Marcinkowski competes with the U.S. U-23s; and Jacob Akanyirige is on loan with Reno 1868 FC.

For the Red, White, and Blue

JT Marcincowski and Jackson Yueill were both in action for the United States U-23s over the weekend. Marcinkowski and Yueill each played 45 minutes against Egypt on Friday. In Sunday’s match against the Netherlands, Marcinkowski started and played 65 minutes, while Yueill came on as a second-half sub.

Another Chance to Impress

The U.S. Men’s National Team will play a friendly against Chile tomorrow in Houston. Quakes defender Nick Lima of Castro Valley will continue to push to make the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup roster.
