The 2023 MLS season has officially begun, and the San Jose Earthquakes are having their Home Opener on Saturday, March 4th, at 7:30 p.m. The Quakes will host the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at PayPal Park.
Here are five reasons you do not want to miss out on this event:
We’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of our 2003 championship by giving Retro Sherseys to the first 10,000 people at the Home Opener.

In another tribute to the 2003 championship, former ‘03 alumni including Dwayne DeRosario, Jeff Agoos, and Richard Mulrooney will be in attendance. They will be honored at centerfield during halftime.
New Supporters Section
The brand-new Supporters Section will be unveiled at the Home Opener. The new terrace construction finished after the end of the 2022 season. The blue seats were removed, and the terrace now consists of two standing-room sections with room for the San Jose Ultras and other fans.
See the new players
The off-season brought about a few changes in the Quakes roster. The team earned a 4-1-1 preseason record and are looking forward to keeping up the momentum through the season. This is the first chance to see the complete team in action on their home turf.
Head coach, Luchi Gonzalez, makes his Quakes coaching debut this season. Gonzalez was previously FC Dallas’ head coach from 2019 to 2021. Most recently, he was assistant coach for the U.S. National Team from 2021-2022 and was with the USMNT for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
