Women's Soccer Celebration

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will celebrate Women’s Soccer Appreciation Night, presented by Good Humor, on Saturday, July 27 when they host the Colorado Rapids at Avaya Stadium. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

The Earthquakes are proud supporters of women’s soccer and held viewing parties for all 52 matches of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in which the United States claimed their second consecutive title.

Fans can purchase their special event ticket here, which includes a ticket to the match, a Quakes scrunchie, and a pregame Q&A with two Bay Area soccer leaders: Danielle Slaton and Sophie Jones.

Slaton, a former All-American and national champion at Santa Clara University, competed for the United States at the 2000 Olympic Games and 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She serves as a sideline analyst for Earthquakes home matches and was on FOX’s broadcast team for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Slaton will also serve as the celebrity drummer pregame. Jones, a former member of the Quakes Academy, is committed to play at Duke University in the fall. She represented the United States at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and was recently honored as the Gatorade Girls Soccer National Player of the Year.

All youth on-field participants, including ball kids, player escorts and flag holders, will be girls’ youth soccer players and female artist DJ Umami will be playing music throughout the night. The stadium will feature a front gate mural designed by local San Jose artist Alyssa Wigant and the halftime ceremony will be a recognition of various women’s soccer leaders from around the Bay Area. Halftime will also include a mini game featuring girls youth soccer players.

Saturday’s match won’t be the only celebration of women at Avaya Stadium. On Wednesday, July 24, Avaya Stadium will host a Women in Sports and Events (WISE) and Women’s Soccer Panel from 5:30–7:15 p.m. Surprise panelists from the soccer community will be on-hand to answer questions and discuss different paths to success. Light food and drinks will be provided. Tickets are available here.

Also on Wednesday, the Quakes will host their first-ever Yoga Night. For just $30, yoga enthusiasts will be treated to a class with CorePower Yoga’s expert instructors on the stadium field from 7-9 p.m. and a chance to mingle at North America’s largest outdoor bar afterwards. The ticket price includes a yoga class, free drink and a Quakes-branded yoga mat, with all proceeds benefitting BAWSI. Light food will be available and all experience levels are welcome to attend. Tickets are available here.

The following day, Thursday, July 25, the Quakes will host a girls’ soccer clinic on the team’s practice field from 5:15-6:30 p.m. The clinic, open to the first 100 girls between ages 8-12 to register, will be led by girls’ academy players and staff. Participants will then be invited to stay for a showing of Coco on the stadium’s large video board at 6:30 p.m. The clinics are now full.
