One thing’s for certain, the Quakes newest signing in Magnus Eriksson has scored a lot – 77 across all professional competitions to be exact.
He’s scored in Sweden. He’s scored in Denmark. He’s scored in Champions League qualifiers. He’s scored in Europa League qualifiers. While there were a lot to sift through, here’s what we deemed to be his five very best jaw-dropping goals:
5. Eriksson chest-traps the ball, maintaining perfect control before smashing it up and over the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area. The powerful shot kissed the underside of the crossbar before finding the back of the net.
- Maybe the cleverest of his highlight reel. Eriksson receives the ball after a dummy by a teammate. He uses his first touch to put the ball into space before cheekily chipping it into the side netting of the back post with his preferred left foot.
- Against Salzburg in a Champions League qualifier, Eriksson shocked everyone in attendance and watching around the world with a volley for the ages. He displayed no hesitation in pulling the trigger from ~30 yards away, catching the keeper drifting from his line.
2. Just sheer power. Eriksson receives the ball near his own penalty area and proceeds to carry it the length of the field while the defense scrambled to get back. As he drives towards the 18-yard box, he decides to let it fly and blasts the upper-corner of the net. Keeper had no chance.
- Out of all Eriksson’s goals, this one may have the most I-need-to-watch-that-again factor. With his back to goal, he chests traps the ball before committing to an overhead kick, catching everyone, including his immediate marker, off-guard. The ball flew perfectly inside the far post, just out of reach of the net-minder’s outstretched arms.
