The U.S. Women’s National Team will conclude its 2017 schedule with the second match of a two game series vs. Canada on Sunday, Nov 12 at Avaya Stadium. The first leg of the set concluded Thursday night at BC Place in Vancouver, where the game ended in a 1-1 draw in front of a sellout crowd of 28,017 fans.

Alex Morgan scored in the 31st minute, giving the U.S. a 1-0 lead. Lindsey Horan almost doubled the score with a free kick in the 39th minute, but it was pushed out by Canada goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé, preserving the one-goal margin in the first half. In the 57th minute substitute Adriana Leon evened the score with a cross from Christine Sinclair, ending the match with the final score of 1-1.

The team has played in San Jose twice before, the last time being Nov. 10, 2016 where they defeated Romania 8-1. They also played here back in May of 2015, when they defeated the Republic of Ireland 3-0 as part of the send off series ahead of the World Cup.

Several of the players have Bay Area connections; forward Alex Morgan attended UC Berkley, defender Julie Ertz attended Santa Clara, while defender Kelley O’Hara, forward Christen Press, and goalkeeper Jane Campbell all attended Stanford University.

“I’m super excited to go to San Jose,” U.S. Soccer defender Julie Ertz said postgame in Vancouver. “I have a lot of people going there, I have a lot of friends and family that will be there, so it’s definitely a place in my heart, especially with soccer as well. I’m super excited to go back and I’m also excited to go back, learn from this game and then play them again on Sunday.”

Fans can also stop by the Fan HQ in VIP lot across from the stadium for live music by The GameDay DJ, kick it with the Soccer in Slow Motion freestyle jugglers, get their faces painted, and much more! The Fan HQ will open at 2:00 p.m, and the gates will open at 4:30.
