INTERNATIONAL PREVIEW: Kip Colvey set for Saturday's World Cup Qualifier for New Zealand

Kip Colvey - New Zealand - San Jose Earthquakes - 2016

Earthquakes defender Kip Colvey will suit up for New Zealand in a pair of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers this week, starting with a fixture against New Caledonia Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. PT in Round 3 of Group A.

The two countries last faced off in Round 2 of World Cup Qualifying back on June 8 when New Zealand topped New Caledonia 1-0 at Sir John Guise Stadium.

Colvey and the All Whites are coming off two strong friendly performances in the United States last month, battling Mexico to a competitive 2-1 loss on Oct. 8 at LP Field in Nashville and 1-1 draw against the U.S. on Oct. 11 at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C.

Colvey, who just finished his rookie campaign with the Quakes, most recently appeared for the New Zealand in last month’s draw against the United States. Before the All Whites’ bout at RFK Stadium, the Picton native came on as a second-half substitute against El Tri.

Following Saturday’s match, Colvey and New Zealand travel to Stade Yoshida in Kone for another match against New Caledonia Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. PT.
