INTERNATIONAL PREVIEW: #Panamaniacs kick off Hexagonal against Honduras

Panamaniacs - World Cup Qualifying - 2016

Earthquakes midfielders Anibal Godoy and Alberto Quintero kick off the FIFA international break against Honduras Friday, Nov. 11 (12:35 p.m. PT) in the first match of two Hexagonal 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The Panamaniacs split their last two World Cup Qualifying matches back in early September, defeating Jamaica 2-0 on Sept. 2 at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama city and falling to Costa Rica 3-1 on Sept. 6 at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San Jose.

Since 2012, Los Canaleros are unbeaten in their last six fixtures against Honduras (2-0-4).

The Panamanians finished the fourth round of qualifiers in second place in Group B with 10 points, six points behind first place Costa Rica. Following Friday’s match, Panama will gear up to host Mexico on Nov. 15 at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City.

Godoy, who missed Panama’s last two World Cup Qualifiers due to injury, has scored one goal in 66 previous appearances for his country. Quintero, who played 90 minutes in September’s 2-0 win against Jamaica, has made 74 prior appearances with the Panamanian National Team, scoring four goals.

Honduras, who currently sit in second place in Group A behind Mexico, will look to build off of an impressive scoreless draw against El Tri in the Estadio Azteca in their last World Cup Qualifier on Sept. 6.
