MATCH RECAP: Earthquakes II 1(5), Houston Dynamo 2 1(3)

HOUSTON — San Jose Earthquakes II defeated Houston Dynamo 2 1(5)-1(3) on Wednesday night at SaberCats Stadium in MLS NEXT Pro regular-season play.

The hosts opened the scoring early in the 9th minute when Houston striker Arthur Sousa connected a through pass to left wing back Vinicius Silva who found the back of the net. Quakes II bounced back in the 78th minute when left winger Zach Bohane crossed the ball into the 18-yard box and right back Jacob Heisner headed in the equalizer.

With the score level at the end of regulation, the match entered a penalty shootout. The visitors outscored Houston 5-3 and took home the additional point.

At the conclusion of the match, Quakes II remains in 8th place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference and 5th place in the Pacific Division (8-8-6). Houston Dynamo 2 remains in 3rd place in the MLSNP Western Conference and 2nd place in the Frontier Division (13-5-4).

Quakes II travels to face Austin FC II on Sunday, Aug. 23. Kickoff from Parmer Field will take place at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast via OneFootball, as well as on MLSNEXTPro.com.
