BURNABY, British Columbia — San Jose Earthquakes II defeated Whitecaps FC 2 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Swangard Stadium in the final match of MLS NEXT Pro regular-season play.
Quakes II struck first in the 43rd minute when forward Luka Jovanović received an overhead pass from right back Jacob Heisner and ran the ball into the 18-yard box to find left winger Zach Bohane who secured the opening goal. The visitors doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Heisner found the back of the net from a corner kick by midfielder Edwyn Mendoza setting the final 2-0 margin.
At the conclusion of the match, Quakes II moves to eighth place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference and fourth place in the Pacific Division (11-11-6; 42 points). Whitecaps FC 2 remains in 12th place in the MLSNP Western Conference and seventh place in the Pacific Division (6-17-5; 27 points).
With tonight’s result, Quakes II will host Tacoma Defiance in a single-elimination match (date TBD). The winner of the Play-in match will advance as the Western Conference eighth seed in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
