NEWS: Earthquakes and Adobe Unveil Mexican Heritage Mural in Downtown San Jose

SJ

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes have teamed up with Adobe to unveil a Mexican Heritage street mural in downtown San Jose on Thursday, June 1 with artist Artes Luis Fernando Luna. Following last year’s collaboration with local artist Houyee Chow to create a mural honoring Pride Month, the Earthquakes and Adobe continue the celebration of diverse voices. The artwork is displayed at the corner of San Carlos and First Street.

“We wanted to find an artist with both a passion and a message,” said Amit Singh, Senior Director of Global Brand Marketing, Adobe. “We asked San Jose native Artes Luna, ‘what’s in your heart?’ and he has created a terrific representation of Mexican Heritage that will be an inspiration to all.”

“We are really proud to work with Adobe on giving local artists a voice,” said Ian Anderson, Earthquakes Chief Strategy Officer. “Promoting creativity while supporting local artists is a very important part of the Quakes brand.”

The mural artwork was displayed at the Earthquakes’ match against LAFC at Levi’s Stadium in early May as part of Mexican Heritage night. Posters of the artwork were available for the 45,000 fans in attendance and Artes Luna was present at the pregame Fan Fest signing autographs.

“This has been a tremendous experience,” said Artes Luis Fernando Luna, “I was born in Guadalajara and have been living in San Jose for years. I focus on remembering where I’m from but at the same time appreciating and mixing with the culture of San Jose.”

Local Color and WestBank were also instrumental in working with the Earthquakes and Adobe to bring this mural to life.
