SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes defender Carlos Akapo has been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday, formerly known as Team of the Week, for Matchday 34. Akapo tallied his third assist of the season to help the Quakes comeback from a goal down and earn a crucial point at home.

A perfectly timed run and a low cross from Carlos Akapo opened space for forward Matthew Hoppe to score a 74th minute equalizer, cancelling Nashville’s goal earlier in the second half. Akapo now has five goal contributions in 25 appearances (two goals, three assists), the most of any Quakes defender this season.

The MLS Team of the Matchday selection is Akapo’s second since joining the Earthquakes last season.
