SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that defender Nathan successfully underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Monday afternoon. The surgery was performed by orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Marc Safran at Stanford Medicine and is expected to sideline the defender for up to two months. Nathan suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s season opener vs. the New York Red Bulls.

Nathan, 26, made 20 starts in his debut season with the club in 2021, scoring two goals. Despite joining the team midseason and not making his first appearance until July, Nathan finished the 2021 season ranked fifth in interceptions (64) and tied for 12th in tackles won (49) among all players in MLS.
