NEWS: Earthquakes Goalkeeper Daniel and Defender Rodrigues Selected to MLS Team of the Matchday

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Daniel and defender Rodrigues have been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday, formerly known as Team of the Week, for Matchday 27. Daniel and Rodrigues helped to hold Vancouver Whitecaps FC scoreless in the Quakes eighth shutout of the season. 

At the start of the match, goalkeeper Daniel stopped three consecutive shots in the 15th minute to keep the game level. He ended the night with seven saves in a man of the match performance, earning his fourth shutout of the season.

Defender Rodrigues’ defensive performance through all 90 minutes helped the Quakes earn their eighth shutout of the season. He is currently tied for fourth most interceptions in MLS this season. 

The MLS Team of the Matchday selection is the third of the season for both Daniel and Rodrigues. The Quakes have now earned 2+ TOTM selections in a single match for the fifth time this season.
