San Jose Earthquakes Fans - Scarves Up - 2017

SAN JOSE, Calif. –
At halftime of this Saturday’s match, the San Jose Earthquakes will honor Mr. Kieu Hoang, CEO & Chairman of RAAS, for making a $5 million donation to the San Jose Flood Victims Relief Fund back in March. In an effort to speed healing from the worst flooding in San Jose in a century, Hoang’s generous gift helped provide emergency financial assistance to support countless families on their road to recovery.

Hoang will be recognized in front of a sell-out crowd against the Portland Timbers (7:15 p.m.) and will be given a Devotion Scarf, typically reserved for select individuals who have long served the Earthquakes organization or local soccer community. Saturday’s match also represents Vietnamese Heritage Night, the Earthquakes’ longest running annual theme night, which includes a drum performance by the Vietnamese LaSallian Youth Troupe.
“As a pillar of San Jose, we felt it was important to recognize Mr. Hoang’s generosity in such an important time of need,” said Earthquakes Chief Operating Officer Jared Shawlee. “The Vietnamese community is woven into the fabric of San Jose and we’re looking forward to sharing his altruism with all of our fans in attendance.”
Hoang was born in Quang Tri, Vietnam, and immigrated to America at the age of 31. He started his career with humble beginnings when he first arrived in California. From his first job at Abbott Laboratories, Hoang rose through the ranks and eventually founded his own company, Rare Antibody Antigen Supply (RAAS) in 1980, later opening a branch in Shanghai. In 2014, he launched Hoang Kieu Winery, continuing his mission to improve quality of life for others.
He debuted on the 2014 Forbes Billionaires List and continues to donate his wealth to various charitable causes, including building houses for the poor, assisting in typhoon stricken countries and contributing to health centers in California. He also has plans to build a wellness center for cancer patients and his ultimate vision is to rid the world of all diseases, including cancer, diabetes and chronic illnesses through nutraceuticals.
