SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Siad Haji has been called to the Somalia National Team to participate in the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup qualifier against Oman on Sunday, June 20 at 10 a.m. PT in Doha, Qatar. The call-up becomes Haji’s first senior national team opportunity.
Should Somalia win the match on June 20, they would qualify to the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup tournament in November and be placed in Group A of the competition.
Haji, 21, was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and signed with the club as a Generation adidas player. Haji has made 10 regular season appearances since joining the Earthquakes, as well as one appearance in U.S. Open Cup play in 2019. Haji has made two appearances so far during the 2021 season.
