NEWS: Earthquakes Partner with Cityteam to Provide Thanksgiving Meals for Families in Need

Cordell Cato - Thanksgiving - Q Mascot - 2015

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes are partnering with Cityteam to provide and distribute food at Avaya Stadium for 5,000 families from the City of San Jose and Santa Clara County, presented by 7UP. With growing support, the second-annual Thanksgiving event will see meals distributed to 2,000 more families than last year.

Members of the team’s front office and volunteers from the Bay Area will package and hand out well-rounded meals, including meats, vegetables and canned goods, to the families in need from 1-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Additional representatives from the club will also be in attendance.

“Thanksgiving is an excellent opportunity for the Earthquakes to give back to our local community,” said club President Dave Kaval. “Warm meals are something many people take for granted and we want to do our part to make sure residents of the South Bay are well fed and happy this holiday season.”

In 2015, the Earthquakes and Cityteam teamed-up for the first time and provided 3,000 meals to families. As a result of their efforts, both organizations were jointly recognized by the Silicon Valley Business Journal with the 2016 Community Impact Award, given to business people or companies who have made exceptional philanthropic contributions including their work in the fields of education, health care, or arts and culture.
