SAN JOSE, Calif. – Ahead of its 2023 Home Opener vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, March 4, the San Jose Earthquakes announced that the club will host the 2023 Season Hype Party at Blanco Urban Venue in Downtown San Jose on Thursday, March 2.
The event, set to take place from 6-9 p.m., will feature meet-and-greet opportunities with Quakes players and head coach Luchi Gonzalez, an unveiling of the club’s all-new magazine, 2003 MLS Cup Championship alumni presence, raffles and prizes, live music from DJ Ivy, and more. Fans will also be able to purchase the Quakes’ new 2023 home jersey, which is set to be unveiled later this month.
The 2023 Season Hype Party will kick off with appearances from San Jose players Cade Cowell, Cristian Espinoza, Miguel Trauco, Niko Tsakiris, and Jackson Yueill, as well as new Designated Player Carlos Gruezo, and head coach Luchi Gonzalez. They will take part in a live on-stage interactive interview, giving fans the chance to hear from the Quakes’ new coach for the first time and how the team has been preparing for the start of the 2023 season.
In spirit of the Earthquakes celebrating their 2003 MLS Cup Championship during the Home Opener, ’03 alumni will also be mingling with fans and participate in autograph sessions throughout the evening.
A special exhibit will display the Earthquakes’ new magazine Soccer for the People, a high-quality print issue with colorful, matte-texture pages that showcase the fusion of art, culture, and soccer in the Bay Area. The free, multi-page magazine celebrates the heart of the club by featuring first team, local artists, and historical stories. Narratives will include Quakes head coach Luchi Gonzalez, 2003 MLS Cup champion Rodrigo Faria, prolific artist Duong Nguyen, among others. Contributors include Tomás Mier of Rolling Stone, and Robert Jonas from Quakes’ Epicenter.
The Quakes Foundation, the charitable arm of the club, will be collecting monetary and soccer equipment donations (unused gear, balls, etc.) at the 2023 Season Hype Party in support of the new EQ Gear Up! program. EQ Gear Up! will facilitate equipment drops to local underserved soccer clubs and schools in San Jose.
