NEWS: Earthquakes to host New York Red Bulls in 2022 Home Opener

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will host the New York Red Bulls in their 2022 home opener on Saturday, February 26. Kickoff from PayPal Park is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT. It marks the Quakes’ first match vs. NYRB since Mar. 16, 2019, and first meeting in San Jose since Oct. 6, 2018.

An exclusive presale for Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders to purchase add-on tickets will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. PT before being made available to the general public on Friday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. PT. The Earthquakes will kick off their regular season at home for the sixth time in eight seasons since the opening of PayPal Park. San Jose has tallied a commanding 5-1-1 record in their previous seven home openers at PayPal Park, including a 2-1-1 record vs. Eastern Conference opponents. The Quakes hold a 17-14-9 all-time record vs. the New York Red Bulls. San Jose has been dominant at home in the series, holding a 13-3-3 record, while NYRB has won four of the last five overall meetings since 2015. 

The 2022 regular season, which begins earlier than ever before, will run through Sunday, Oct. 9. Following three consecutive weeks of Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs action, MLS Cup will be played on Saturday, Nov. 5, more than two weeks prior to the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Nov. 21 and more than a week prior to the player release date on Nov. 14.

The full 2022 regular season schedule will be announced by the end of the year.
