Kerri Walsh Jennings - 2018 - Avaya Stadium

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Professional beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings’ event series p1440 announces Avaya Stadium grounds as the San Jose location to kick-off its inaugural 2018 – 2019 season. Taking place on Sept. 28-30, the three-day event will feature a professional beach volleyball tournament showcasing the best volleyball players from around the globe, personal development experiences, a music festival, and a health & wellness village.

The Avaya Stadium grounds—its adjacent parking lots and roadways—will transform into a live experience unlike any other. p1440 is shipping in 2,800 tons of sand to build its custom beach volleyball courts for the professional beach volleyball tournament. In addition to multiple sand volleyball courts, Avaya Stadium grounds will feature a stage for live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening and throughout the day on Sunday; a development village featuring high interval workouts and volleyball training; food trucks; a beer and wine garden; and a health & wellness village featuring inspirational speakers, kids’ exercises and activities, yoga sessions and more.

“I am extremely excited to kick off the p1440 movement at San Jose’s Avaya Stadium grounds and in the Bay Area, where I was born and raised. It feels amazing to see the hard work and dedication of our team coming to life in such a bold, beautiful way. The fact that our first event is in my hometown, where I fell in love with the game and where my family is—it’s a dream come true. I am honored to be able to share our inaugural p1440 event with the beloved Bay Area and with a community that has given me so much,” said Walsh Jennings, co-founder of p1440. “We will provide San Jose with a best in class experience that will touch upon each one of our dynamic founding pillars: competition, development, health & wellness and entertainment. We want people to come to our event, watch the best of the best in beach volleyball compete for the title, learn and engage with our p1440 experts and partners, immerse themselves in our health & wellness village, enjoy chart-topping musical acts and leave inspired and empowered to live the p1440 lifestyle well beyond our events. We want people to go on an adventure with us and leave ‘better’ for it.”

The stadium’s values also align with the p1440 movement, making it the perfect venue for the first p1440 event. Both organizations are dedicated to making a positive impact on the community and in the environment and the p1440 San Jose event will ensure to do that as well.

"The Earthquakes are excited to host such an inspiring event as p1440 on the grounds of Avaya Stadium," said Earthquakes President Tom Fox. "We're really looking forward to welcoming back local hero Kerri Walsh Jennings, her husband Casey and their family, and joining the movement to help promote their positive message of living every minute."
