NEWS: Seventeen-Year-Old Cade Cowell Named to MLS 22 Under 22

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes forward Cade Cowell has been tabbed as No. 7 on Major League Soccer’s 22 Under 22. Cowell, 17, is the second-youngest player included on the list.

22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR is a list of the top 22 players in MLS under the age of 22 as voted on by an expert panel consisting of analysts, MLS Player Department staff and external media members.

Cowell is in his third professional season with the Quakes and has tallied five goals and five assists in 44 career MLS appearances. He has totaled four goals and four assists in 27 appearances to date during the 2021 season, ranking second on the team in both categories.

Cowell holds numerous age-specific club records, including youngest player to make an MLS appearance (16 years, 150 days), youngest player to make an MLS start (16 years, 325 days), and youngest player to score an MLS goal (16 years, 325 days). He became the third-youngest player in MLS history to be voted MLS Player of the Week earlier this year (17 years, 207 days), and was the youngest member of the 2021 MLS All-Star Team.
