SAN JOSE, Calif. – Three members of the San Jose Earthquakes have been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week for Week 21: forward Jeremy Ebobisse, defender Luciano Abecasis, and head coach Matias Almeyda. San Jose defeated the LA Galaxy 2-1 in the California Clasico rivalry match on Friday night.

Ebobisse, 24, scored San Jose’s first goal in Friday’s victory over the LA Galaxy. It marked his first goal for San Jose after joining the team via trade earlier this month. The Team of the Week selection is his second this season, after receiving the honor in Week 13 while with the Portland Timbers.

Abecasis, 31, started and played 73 minutes on Friday night, helping hold LA’s high-scoring offense to one goal and tallying an assist on Ebobisse’s score.

Almeyda has guided his team to a 10-match unbeaten run, the longest active streak in MLS. The 2-1 victory over LA on Friday propelled the Quakes above the playoff line and into seventh place in the Western Conference.
