After a 3-month drought at Buck Shaw Stadium, the San Jose Earthquakes finally saw Win Pin 4.0 come to fruition in a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards.
Chris Wondolowski booted home the game-winner on a picturesque cross from recent signing Khari Stephenson. Joe Cannon recorded a clean sheet in his first match back in goal, producing several highlight-reel quality saves in the process.
Both teams saw quality scoring chances Saturday night. Kansas City had three would-be goals whistled for offsides and Teal Bunbury nodded a header just wide of the post from 6-yards out. Stephenson hit the crossbar on a free kick from 25 yards and several Quakes had opportunities on the counterattack that failed to find the net.
In the end, San Jose earned a much-needed three points to help stay in the playoff chase. The Quakes moved into a tie for No. 8 in MLS with Toronto FC at 26 points apiece.
