Quakes D Suggs loaned to Tampa Bay Rowdies

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that first-year defender Josh Suggs has joined the Tampa Bay Rowdies (NASL) on loan for the remainder of the 2012 season.


The loan extends through Oct. 31, 2012, but Suggs can be recalled at any time. Additionally, the first-year defender will join the Earthquakes for each of their Reserve League matches, starting with Sunday’s game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC (11 a.m. PT, Earthquakes Training Facility).


Suggs signed with the Earthquakes on March 9, 2012. The 22-year-old has yet to make a first team appearance with the Earthquakes. He made his Reserve League debut in San Jose’s 1-0 win against the Portland Timbers on March 27, starting and playing 81 minutes at left back.


Prior to his time with the Earthquakes, Suggs spent a season with the Los Angeles Blues (USL-Pro). He was a three-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association selection while scoring 22 goals and recording seven assists in four years at Humboldt State.
