Earthquakes Part Ways with Head Coach Mikael Stahre, Assistant Coach Alex de Crook

The San Jose Earthquakes announced that the club has parted ways with head coach Mikael Stahre and assistant coach Alex de Crook. Assistant coach Steve Ralston has been elevated to interim head coach for the team’s final six matches of the 2018 MLS regular season, while Alex Covelo will serve as an assistant on Ralston’s staff. The Earthquakes have begun their search for a permanent head coach. “I would like to thank Mikael and Alex for their hard work and professionalism this season,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. “Mikael has qualities, both as a person and a coach, that will be missed by players, staff and the front office alike. Quakes Welcome Mexican National Team Legend Missael Espinoza for Mexican Heritage Night

The San Jose Earthquakes will welcome retired Mexican National Team and Quakes midfielder Missael Espinoza to Avaya Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 19 to celebrate Mexican Heritage Night as the Quakes take on Atlanta United FC at 7:45 p.m., presented by PG&E. The Quakes have several activities planned for fans to celebrate the evening, including an autograph session with Espinoza in the 7UP Epicenter prior to kickoff, a Lucha Libre match, live music and a halftime performance featuring traditional Mexican dances.


Espinoza was an inaugural member Major League Soccer, playing with San Jose during the 1996 season. He scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances for the club, earning the first-ever MVP honors for San Jose. Espinoza also enjoyed a successful career in Liga MX, playing for Monterrey, Chivas, Leon, Necaxa and Queretaro, and for the Mexico National Team, playing 40 games and scoring four goals for El Tri. Quakes Academy’s Casey Walls and Cade Cowell called to U-16 BNT Camp

San Jose Earthquakes Academy defender Casey Walls and forward Cade Cowell have been called up to the U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team for a training camp in Bradenton, Fla from Sept. 12-19. U.S. U-16 BNT head coach Shaun Tsakiris has called up 36 players – all born in 2003 – for this age group’s fifth training camp of 2018. The camp follows rosters called up at the first ever U.S. Men’s Youth National Team Summit in January, domestic camp at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in March, Torneo delle Nazioni in April that included a third place finish after the USA defeated Japan 2-1, and the most recent camp, a concurrent training camp at IMG Academy with the U-17 MNT. Earthquakes Incorporate Reduxio Technology at Avaya Stadium

The San Jose Earthquakes announced that the club has integrated Reduxio’s data management and protection technology into Avaya Stadium and the front office through a new partnership. “We are proud to partner with Reduxio and utilize its technology as our primary source of storage,” said Earthquakes Vice President of Finance and Administration Jess Olivares. “It is easy to use, allows us significantly more storage and the near zero RTO and RPO allow us to recover server corruptions virtually instantly to any point in time.”Read the full story here.


Next Phase of Coleman Highline Development Under Way

The next phase in the development of Coleman Highline is officially under way, with upcoming changes expected to be completed by the summer of 2019. The development includes the construction of a five-story parking garage in the west side of the Platinum Lot. The garage will help service local businesses, while adding more than 1,700 total paved parking spots on game day. The new parking structure will also feature a speed ramp from the ground floor to the third story, allowing more cars to enter and exit with ease. Read the full story here.


Quakes Foundation Dedicates Entire Month of September to Childhood Cancer Awareness

The Quakes Foundation, the San Jose Earthquakes’ charitable arm, is dedicating the entire month of September to childhood cancer awareness with several activities and initiatives. This dedication comes in conjunction with MLS WORKS’ Kick Childhood Cancer month-long campaign. The Quakes and the Austen Everett Foundation will give 10-year-old Destinee Coronado a once-in-a-lifetime professional soccer experience at the match on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Coronado will sign a contract to join the Quakes roster for the match and will have many exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences both leading up to and at the game.
