TEAM OF THE WEEK: Vako, Kashia, Stahre named to MLS TOTW

Vako Guram TOTW - 2018

The Quakes’ three points earned in Texas when they defeated first-place FC Dallas 3-1 on Saturday night wasn’t the only reward that came out of the evening. MLS announced today their Team of the Week for Week 23 of the 2018 MLS season, and it was as Quakes-heavy as it’s ever been.

Tallying two goals on the night, the first and the last for the Quakes, Vako earned a forward spot on Team of the Week. New Georgian center back Guram Kashia also left his mark on just his third MLS game, locking down and commanding the Quakes back line, as he has done for three straight appearances, four if you count a friendly vs. Manchester United at Levi’s Stadium.

The black and blue-dominated lineup didn’t stop there. Head coach Mikael Stahre was named Coach of the Week for putting his side into a position to defeat the Western Conference leaders. It’s no secret that the season has not gone as planned for Stahre in his first MLS season, but a win away in heat and humidity vs. the conference’s top team will surely give him, his staff and their players confidence to finish off the season stronger.

Congratulations to our Team of the Week winners!
