Taking the pitch on Tuesday afternoon, players and coaches had their minds set on one thing – preparing for the season opener on Sunday.

While field players went through agility drills on the far side of the field, goalkeepers worked on one-touch distribution, handling passes over a wide variety of angles and speeds.

The team then broke into two groups and played odd-sided keep away drills, before extending into a match, utilizing only the width of the pitch as the full length. The condensed playing area forced players to make quicker decisions and increased the importance of finding feet.

As defensive players departed for the locker rooms, midfielders and forwards were put through the standard assortment of finishing drills.

Tickets are still available for the Quakes season opener on Sunday, March 6 against the Colorado Rapids. Fans can visit sjearthquakes.com, Ticketmaster.com or call 1-800-745-3000. Fans can also purchase tickets at Ticketmaster locations in the Bay Area, including Walmart and Chavez Supermarkets.
