Steven Lenhart left his mark in the record books Saturday night in a 4-2 road win against D.C. United after scoring the fifth hat trick in franchise history.
San Jose's golden-haired striker equalized in the 15th minute, dribbling United keeper Bill Hamid before finishing, pounced on a loose ball to put the Quakes up 2-1 in the 22nd minute and capped his hat trick with a header near the edge of the area in the 60th minute.
Lenhart and the Earthquakes raised $1,000 for local youth soccer programs as part of the Wells Fargo Goals for Education program. For each goal San Jose scores in 2011, Wells Fargo will donate $250 to Bay Area soccer programs.
