After injuries to Ike Opara, Steven Beitashour and Chris Leitch, the Quakes back four are recruiting new faces. San Jose announced a trade on Friday that will bring former Chicago Fire right back Tim Ward into the mix. Brandon McDonald and Joey Gjertsen are also candidates.
McDonaldo played center back for the Quakes in 2009 and appears a likely candidate to fill Opara's spot on the field. San Jose could also move Hernandez to his natural position at center of the defense while sliding Gjertsen or Ward to right back.
