Quakes bringing Stephenson to San Jose

Khari Stephenson Jamaican National Team

Jamaican international Khari Stephenson is flying into San Jose on Friday and is expected to sign a contract with the San Jose Earthquakes, pending several details still in the works.

With three roster spots open, the Quakes are in the market for capable players and Stephenson fits the profile. The physical midfielder has 26 caps with Jamaica and has teamed with current Quakes forward Ryan Johnson for the Reggae Boyz.

Stephenson has played his last five seasons in Sweden and Norway, most recently with Aalesunds FK of the Tippeligaen. Should he sign, Stephenson could fill a gap in the midfield with Brandon McDonald a strong candidate to replace injured Ike Opara on the back line.
