After back-to-back last-place finishes in the Western Conference, nobody outside of the San Jose Earthquakes organization expected to see the black and blue reach the MLS Cup Playoffs.
On October 29 at RFK Stadium, Chris Wondolowski struck twice to clinch the Quakes first post-season trip since rejoining the league in 2008, but no champagne bottles were uncorked. The celebration was brief if nonexistent.
It was business as usual for the Blue Collar Boys. The Quakes truly believed they were playoff bound from Day 1 and turned doubters into believers at every juncture along the way.
