Earthquakes, Galaxy draw 1-1 in preseason exhibition

CARSON, Calif. — The San Jose Earthquakes drew 1-1 with the Los Angeles Galaxy in a preseason exhibition at The Home Depot Center on Thursday.

Ike Opara gave the Quakes an early lead, volleying home a Joey Gjertsen free kick in the 4th minute. Opara played 45 minutes in his preseason debut.

Mike Magee tallied a late equalizer for the Galaxy, heading home a free kick by Paolo Cardozo in the 83rd minute.

The Quakes will wrap up their trip to Southern California with a closed-door scrimmage against the Ventura County Fusion on Friday.
