Kaval's Kickoff: Big games on the horizon

We have a huge two weeks on tap for Quakes fans here in the Bay Area. Everyone here in the Front Office both on the business and technical sides is excited about the upcoming matches and events.

This coming Saturday, June 25 at 3:30 p.m. we welcome the LA Galaxy to Buck Shaw to show them some Quakes soccer. The Galaxy have been flying high, leading the Western Conference, and it is time to defend our house and get a great result. This may be the last visit of David Beckham to the Bay Area as he is in the last year of his contract with the Galaxy so that is another compelling reason to come out and see the match. I am also confident that the Ultras and Casbah will represent with some awesome Tifo and, of course, their customary energy that will help propel the team to a higher level.

There is also a great Season Ticket Holder's event Friday evening where John Doyle and I will give the "State of the Franchise" talk. This is another great reason to get on board as a Season Ticket Holder for 2011 and beyond. I plan on giving the latest update on the privately financed Quakes stadium along with other important information

After the Galaxy match, we have a Gold Cup Final Viewing Party scheduled at Buck Shaw where folks can stick around and watch the match on the Jumbotron. That makes for a great soccer doubleheader this coming weekend! It was great to see both Chris Wondolowski and Ryan Johnson on the field for their respective teams in the 2011 Gold Cup and we can't wait to see them back in San Jose.

The Stanford match is also rapidly approaching and it will be good to get some revenge on the Red Bull for the loss earlier this season in New York. The July 2 match at 7:30 p.m. will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and will showcase the Quakes for the whole country to see. This is our first match this season to be broadcast on ESPN.  For everyone local, this is a great opportunity to catch a Quakes match and then an awesome fireworks extravaganza after the match. It has been a pleasure working with everyone at Stanford to put the event together and we hope to have future matches at Stanford Stadium. I would like to give a special shout out to Maggie Fenton at Stanford whose hard work has been instrumental in coordinating the exciting match.
