Sharks defenseman Jason Demers drops by training

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jason Demers dropped by Earthquakes training last week to see if he had what it takes to be an MLS goalkeeper.


The gritty Canadian defender went through drills with Jon Busch after practice and got in goal to take shots from reigning Budweiser Golden Boot winner Chris Wondolowski and Joey Gjertsen. Busch also put Demers through footwork and hands drills.


Earlier in the season, Busch took a trip to HP Pavilion to test his hockey skills on the ice with Demers. The duo also went through a series of games to decide whose skillset was best served on ice. In the end, the result was a tie. However, that score was settled when Demers and Busch lined up for a penalty-kick shootout at Buck Shaw Stadium.
