Kansas City Scouting Report:

  • Sporting Kansas City moved into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference with a 3-1 win against Columbus on Wednesday at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

  • SKC acquired Peterson Joseph, the “Haitian Xavi,” from Portuguese club Braga on Sept. 1. Joseph has six senior caps for Haiti and looks to get more playing time on the field in Kansas City. He grew up as the youngest of four brothers and learned to play in the streets of Haiti.

  • SKC are 2-1-2 in their last five matches, including wins against Columbus and Houston.

Six Degrees (or less) of Quakes-SKC Separation: Detroit Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford

  • Earthquakes midfielder/forward Khari Stephenson and Sporting KC defender Shavar Thomas were born in Jamaica.

  • Shavar Thomas attended the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut.

  • Hotchkiss alumni include Henry Ford II, CEO of Ford Motor Company and his grandson William C. Ford, retired Vice Chairman of the Ford Motor Company and owner of the Detroit Lions.

  • The Detroit Lions are 3-0, thanks to the young quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is 79-of-118 for 977 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions so far this season.
