Quakes, Wells Fargo to kick off 4v4 series May 12

SAN JOSE, Calif. – For a second consecutive year, the San Jose Earthquakes and Wells Fargo have teamed up to host a series of youth and adult soccer tournaments in the Bay Area. In addition to events in San Jose, East Palo Alto and Hayward, the 2012 series will also include a stop in San Francisco.

Following a successful inaugural series last year, the first of four Earthquakes 4v4 Presented by Wells Fargo tournaments is set for May 12 at Overfelt High School (San Jose). Next up is a visit to Cesar Chavez Academy (East Palo Alto) on June 23 followed by a July 21 tournament at Crocker Amazon Park (San Francisco). The series closes on Aug. 18 at Alden E. Oliver Sports Park (Hayward).


Divisions for each event include: Boys and girls U-8 through U-19, men’s and women’s rec, adult coed and men’s open.  Prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place teams in all divisions. All participants receive an Earthquakes ticket, event t-shirt, and sponsor gifts. Each event will also feature appearances by Earthquakes players. Participation fees are $130 for youth and adult rec divisions and $150 for the men’s open division.


Last year, the Earthquakes hosted three 4v4 tournaments presented by Wells Fargo. The events in San Jose, East Palo Alto and Hayward collectively drew over 1,500 participants.
