Third and fourth graders at Ryan Elementary weren’t the only ones having fun at the Get Earthquakes Fit Family event presented by Kaiser Permanente on Friday. Quakes players, Rafa Baca and Mehdi Ballouchy, teamed up with Q and head athletic trainer Brian Lee to share their wisdom on eating healthy and exercising daily.
Ryan Elementary is one of 25 schools this year to participate in the Get Earthquakes Fit program. The San Jose Earthquakes and Kaiser Permanente partnered to create a curriculum designed to increase physical activity in the classroom and at home. Get EQ Fit requires students to engage in 20 minutes of physical activity each day. Each fun five-week program begins with a visit by a Kaiser Permanente physician and ends with a congratulatory visit from a Quakes player.
Friday marked the completion of Ryan Elementary’s Get EQ Fit program. Families enjoyed a farmers market, raffle giveaway, Quakes swag and, of course, a visit from Rafa Baca and Mehdi Ballouchy.
