SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that more than 35,000 tickets have already been sold for the Earthquakes’ match against the LA Galaxy at Stanford Stadium on June 29 (7:30 p.m. PT, Comcast SportsNet California), presented by XFINITY. The Quakes also announced that they have enhanced the post-game fireworks extravaganza to more than double the number of fireworks shot during the show.
Last season, the Earthquakes set a new club record for single-game attendance at a non-doubleheader match with 50,391 fans packing into Stanford Stadium for a thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Galaxy. That attendance number also set the post-stadium renovation record at Stanford Stadium, which now has a capacity of 50,000. Lower bowl sideline, upper endzone seats and director’s level seats are already sold out, but tickets remain in the upper deck and lower end zones.
“Last year was a magical night for the club with a great win, a memorable halftime show and one of the best fireworks shows in the Bay Area,” said Earthquakes Club President Dave Kaval. “We are excited to again honor the members of the Armed Forces at the match with a halftime that youwon’t want to miss. This event has really become the sporting event of the summer.”
At the helm of the halftime show is the renownedPatrick Roberge Productions, creators of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The event, which will feature over 500 troops on the field, will honor members of each of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces as part of a grand Independence Day celebration. In addition to the halftime spectacle, the Earthquakes have donated 1000 tickets to troops and their families to attend the match.
To cap the night, the match will also feature anenhanced fireworks extravaganza following the final whistle that will feature double the number of fireworks. The sky will light up for 15 minutes with asynchronized show produced by Pyro Spectaculars by Souza, Inc.
Pre-game festivities will include tailgating in all parking lots as well as live entertainment from local band Melted State in the Epicenter Fan Zone. The Epicenter, located next to the track and field stadium at Stanford University, will also feature inflatables, foosball tables, corn hole boards, food trucks, face painting and sign making stations and other amenities for fans to enjoy.
Fans can take advantage of a number of unique packages for the match, including a Fireworks Four-Pack, the Jon Busch Saves for Seals package and a Summer of Soccer Mini-Plan. The four-pack includes four tickets for $80 and prime viewing location for the fireworks show. Fans canpurchase a Saves for Seals package, which features lower bowl seating and achance to meet Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch postgame and watch the fireworks with him. A portion of the purchase will go toward the Navy Seal Foundation, which supports the families of Navy Seals. With the Summer of Soccer Mini-Plan, fans can pick the Galaxy match at Stanford Stadium plus three additional games for one low price.
