SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes forward Alan Gordon was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for week 18 of the 2013 MLS season. The striker had two goals off the bench on Saturday, rallying the Earthquakes to a 3-2 win against the LA Galaxy in front of a sold-out crowd of 50,028 at Stanford Stadium.

Gordon entered the game for Steven Lenhart in the 66th minute. He scored his first of two goals just two minutes later, heading home a Shea Salinas cross at the near post to cut the Galaxy’s lead to one. After Salinas equalized in the 92nd minute, Gordon capped the memorable comeback in the 93rd with a leaping header thanks to a pinpoint pass from Sam Cronin. The goals were Gordon’s first of 2013.

San Jose returns to action on Wednesday, July 3 against the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park (5:30 p.m. PT / Comcast SportsNet Plus, 1370 KZSF).
