Kaval's Countdown: #ThankYouRamiro

With 2014 just around the corner, SJEarthquakes.com asked Quakes President Dave Kaval to list his top 10 favorite moments of the year.

Starting on December 22, we will unveil a moment each day until we reach Kaval’s No. 1 of 2013 on December 31. Follow along and let us know if you agree with Kaval’s list in the comments section below.

No. 6: Ramiro: There could not have been a better way to honor Quakes veteran Ramiro Corrales than the October 26 match against FC Dallas. It was like a classic testimonial match. Rams got the start as captain for one final time. It was an emotional pre match ceremony with half of Salinas, California there to celebrate their favorite son. Ramiro was the last of the original 1996 MLS players. His unbelievable career and contributions to our club will go down in history. I will never forget the scene of Ramiro being physically carried off the field by his teammates as he was subbed off in the 60th minute. That is the highest honor for a player and there is no one more deserving than Ramiro. #ThankYouRamiro
