U.S. Soccer, MLS hosting Google+ Hangouts on Air from USMNT Camp

The U.S. Men's National Team, currently in camp at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, will host Google+ Hangouts on Air with Major League Soccer players from its training camp this week.

Under the "One Nation. One Team." banner, the Digital Week will include eight MLS players on head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's 30-player preliminary roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Select fans from each MLS club will be awarded the opportunity to participate in the Google+ Hangout on Air, connecting them with players through an extensive "jumping" model where the players will join multiple fan hangouts rather than one single location. In addition to fielding questions in the Google+ Hangout, the moderator will also ask questions that have been submitted through social media and with the #ForClubAndCountry hashtag.

In a unique format, players from different MLS teams will take part in the same Hangout to converse with fans of both clubs. The Hangout groupings are as followed: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake) and DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo) and Michael Parkhurst (Columbus Crew), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes) and Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City), and Maurice Edu (Philadelphia Union) and Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy).

Edu and Gonzalez will do their Hangout together hours in advance of their clubs' match on Sunday, May 25. The LA Galaxy hosts the Philadelphia Union at 7 p.m. CT at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Klinsmann, who participated in a Google+ Hangout in February prior to the team's March 5 match against Ukraine, selected the 30-man preliminary roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup on May 12. That 30-player group is in camp in California, and from that group, a squad of 23 players must be chosen by June 2 for the final roster that will travel to Brazil. A date to announce the USA's 23-player FIFA World Cup roster has not been set.
