SAN JOSE, Calif. –
The San Jose Earthquakes defeated Sonoma County Sol FC 5-0 in their second scrimmage of the season at the club’s training facility on Saturday.
Leandro Barrera found the net twice while Shea Salinas, Victor Bernardez and Shaun Francis all tallied a goal each.
Salinas opened the scoring inside the area in the 13th minute. Drifting to the corner of the box, Salinas received a pass from the midfield, cut the ball to his right foot and tucked away a near-post finish to put the Quakes ahead.
Bernardez tallied next from the penalty spot in the 40th minute after Thompson was taken down in the box. Bernardez blasted his shot straight down the middle to give the Quakes a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
San Jose started the second half with a 48th minute goal from Shaun Francis, followed by consecutive finishes from Barrera.
The Quakes travel to Tuscon this week and will take on the Houston Dynamo Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. PT at Kino Sports Complex.
