The San Jose Earthquakes raised $5,000 for the Red Cross through a silent auction during the team’s match against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday to support the relief efforts in Japan and Ecuador following the recent earthquakes in those countries. Fans bid on a team signed ball that was used in the April 2 match against D.C. United, which features the commemorative 20th anniversary patch, as well as a game used and signed jersey from the same contest. The Earthquakes Community Fund matched the $2,500 raised by the silent auction. Please click here to make a contribution to the Red Cross.
