For the seventh consecutive year, the Budweiser Corporate Cup Soccer Tournament took place on July 9 at Spartan Stadium in which companies from around the Bay Area put their best teams forward to compete in the 5v5 tournament.
With 25 teams competing in either the coed or men’s divisions, the competition was fierce. Returning 2015 champion, Solar 4 America (men’s division), looked to reclaim its title while 2015 runners up, GoPro, sought revenge.
In the end, the Oakland A’s claimed the coed championship while the Solar 4 America prevailed as the winners in the men’s division again. For the second consecutive year, GoPro finished as the runners up in the men’s bracket while Anatolian Kitchen landed in second place in coed.

A couple of individual stars were also recognized for their performances. Miguel Montañez of Driscoll’s Strawberry Associates, Inc. (11 goals) and Nick Cukar of the Oakland A’s (11 goals) walked away from the tournament as the Golden Boot Award winners.
The tournament benefitted PG&E’s ‘Kicks for Kids’ program and helps bring more than 2,000 underprivileged kids and their families to Avaya Stadium for Earthquakes’ MLS regular season games.
Next year’s tournament is already looking promising. For more information regarding the eighth annual tournament, click here.
