MATCH STORYLINES: Previewing Sunday's Decision Day match against Sporting KC

Kickoff


Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Children’s Mercy Park. The matchup marks the third and final clash of the season between the clubs and first appearance for the Quakes in Kansas City since Aug. 19, 2015.

The game will be aired live on CSN California, 1590 KLIV (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).


Finish Off Strong
Sunday’s match marks the final game of the 2016 season for the Earthquakes. San Jose is 6-8-4 all time in season-ending matches and the club is looking to finish the year with a win for the first time since 2013 (2-1 vs. FC Dallas at Buck Shaw). The Quakes haven’t finished the season with a road win since Oct. 15, 2005 (at LA Galaxy).



Starting XI Staple


With a nod in the starting XI on Sunday, David Bingham would become the only Earthquakes player to start every game this season, marking the second consecutive year he has started in net every match for the Quakes.

Panamaniac Down
The Earthquakes will be without midfielder Anibal Godoy on Sunday due to yellow card accumulation. Godoy started 23 of San Jose’s 32 games this season, leading the club to a 7-7-9 record in matches he appeared in. 



Just Like Last Time


In the Earthquakes last appearance in Kansas City on Aug. 19, 2015, the club routed the home team to the tune of a 5-0-shutout victory, marking the worst home defeat of the season for Sporting KC. Chris Wondolowski and Cordell Cato each netted a brace in the match, while Shea Salinas picked up two assists.
