NEWS: Earthquakes to Host Hall of Fame Week Ahead of April 8 Induction Ceremony

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will host Hall of Fame week throughout the South Bay starting on Saturday, April 1, leading up to the Hall of Fame night. On April 8, the Quakes will face Seattle Sounders FC and Earthquakes legend Joe Cannon will be inducted into the Earthquakes Hall Of Fame during halftime, presented by Solar 4 America. The week will feature a variety of activities in which fans can win prizes, meet Earthquakes players and give back to the community. 


Some highlights include a chance to win an Uber ride with Earthquakes midfielder Fatai Alashe or defender Nick Lima, a life-sized cutout scavenger hunt and a surprise visit to the flood-affected Hellyer Elementary School.

Saturday, April 1

Earthquakes vs. New York City FC Viewing Party
San Pedro Square Market
11 a.m. RSVP


Fans can indulge in Mimosa and Bloody Mary drink specials while cheering on the Quakes as they take on New York City FC. The Earthquakes inflatable goal will be on site and fans can score goals to win prizes. One lucky fan will win two tickets to the April 8 Hall of Fame night where the Quakes will take on Seattle at Avaya Stadium.


Closet Cleaning for Cancer CAREpoint
2505 Samaritan Dr., San Jose
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.


Cancer CAREpoint, the beneficiary of the April 8 match, offers counseling, assistance, resources and education for cancer patients at no cost. Fans can donate clothing, shoes, bedding, towels, accessories, books, toys, games and sporting goods to raise funds to support cancer patients, their families and caregivers in the Silicon Valley. Earthquakes mascot Q will be at the event.



Sunday, April 2


Los Gatos Farmers Market
Downtown Los Gatos at the Town Park Plaza
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.


The Quakes will have a booth at the Los Gatos Farmers Market where fans can receive Quakes goodies and enter to win tickets for the April 8 Hall of Fame night.

Earthquakes mascot Q will be at the Quakes photo booth taking photos with fans. One lucky winner will receive two tickets for the April 8 Hall of Fame night.



Monday, April 3


Surprise Community Visit 
Hellyer Elementary School
2 p.m.


The Earthquakes, accompanied by mascot Q, will make a surprise visit at Hellyer Elementary School. This school is located in an area of San Jose affected by the damaging floods.



Tuesday, April 4


Find the Quakes Cutouts
C.B. Hannegan’s (Los Gatos), La Villa ( Willow Glen), San Pedro Square Market (Downtown San Jose)
11 a.m. – 6 p.m.


A life-size cutout of Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham, midfielder Fatai Alashe and forward Chris Wondolowski will be at C.B. Hannegan’s in downtown Los Gatos, San Pedro Square Market in San Jose and La Villa in Willow Glen. If fans find the cutout, take a photo and tag #Quakes74, they will be entered to win a VIP package for the April 8 Hall of Fame night. 



Wednesday, April 5


Uber with Nick Lima or Fatai Alashe
2:30 – 4 p.m.


Fans can win an Uber ride with Earthquakes defender Nick Lima or midfielder Fatai Alashe along with a Quakes prize pack and tickets to the April 8 match. Open the Uber app between 2:30 – 4 p.m. and request “QUAKES.” If matched with a QUAKES vehicle, you have won! Meet the driver outside of the location where the request was made to collect the prizes and meet either Fatai or Nick.

Find Earthquakes mascot Q in downtown Los Gatos for a chance to win tickets to the Hall of Fame night match between the Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC on April 8.

The Quakes photo booth will be in the Jack Rose Libation House ready for fans to take photos. One lucky winner will get two tickets for the April 8 Hall of Fame night.



Saturday, April 8


San Jose Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders FC, Presented by Solar 4 America
Avaya Stadium
7:15 p.m.


The San Jose Earthquakes will take on Seattle Sounders FC at Avaya Stadium during the club’s Hall of Fame night. At halftime, Earthquakes legendary goalkeeper Joe Cannon will be inducted into the Earthquakes Hall of Fame. The first 5,000 fans to arrive at Avaya Stadium will receive a Joe Cannon t-shirt.



Sunday, April 9


Quakes Free Play, Presented by Valley Health Plan
Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center
12 – 3 p.m. RSVP


Kids ages 5-11 years old are invited to simply enjoy soccer without the pressure of coaching at the Free Play day. Equipment including balls, goals and pinnies will be provided as will lunch, courtesy of Erik’s Deli. Participants should bring their own cleats, shin guards and water. Parents can join the conversation about youth health and wellness with a Quakes guest speaker. Those interested in attending should RSVP and the Free Play days have a 200 children limit.
