SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR
On the first half:
“The second goal, for me, right before halftime changes the score but also the mentality. As many good things as we did last week, we made a lot of mistakes this week and they took advantage of it.”
On the team’s mentality:
“The second half was a much better half. We were getting closer to goal. They are sitting back on a 2-0 lead but I don’t think we gave up – I would be shocked if they did. This is a great group of guys.”
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER JAHMIR HYKA
On giving up the first goal:
“It made them confident, the second goal made them even more confident. They were able to stay back more and wait for the counter. We didn’t have our best game today.”
On the result:
“I think we wanted to play a different game. We did it a little in the beginning, and then the goal pushed us a little down.”
