Reinforcements have arrived.

On Tuesday, the Burlingame Dragons announced the addition of 13 new players to their roster ahead of the club’s pivotal Wednesday night matchup against San Francisco Deltas in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup.  The list of players features several former Quakes Academy products, including defender John-Austin Ricks (Syracuse), midfielders Amir Bashti (Stanford) and Jonathan Partida (San Jose State), forwards Suliman Khorami (San Jose State) and George Korpontinos (Seattle University) and goalkeeper Remi Preur (St. Mary’s).

The former captain of the Quakes’ U-18 team, Ricks just completed his freshman year at Syracuse University. The defender/midfielder played in 20 games for the Orange, starting nine and recording one goal.  You may have seen Ricks and his college soccer team at the

that went viral last year.

Bashti arrives to the Dragons following a championship-winning season with Stanford.  The San Jose native has played a part in the Cardinal’s only two NCAA College Cups, which have come during his freshman and sophomore years on the team. Bashti made 44 appearances during that time span, starting five of those games and recording six goals and five assists. Along with Ricks, Bashti was also part of the Quakes Academy team that won bronze in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Championships in 2015.
