SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR
On the game and result:
"Full credit to the players, they were excellent tonight. You look at Dallas' record, especially at home, they are more than a formidable team. I thought we prepared the guys well. We gave them what I thought was a pretty good idea of how we wanted to play. We asked a lot from them and they stuck to it. We took our chances, we sat in, sat deep, defended and tried to catch them on a break. Fortunately for us, Jahmir [Hyka] scores a great goal, and we have some great last minute defending at the end. It is a great three points for us."
On the team's offensive chances prior to the goal:
"We were getting some good looks. Give credit to Dallas, they are a good team and defended well, but we got deep a couple times. A little bit more patience put us in a better situation. They pushed so many numbers forward, as they're going to do as the game goes on because they wanted to try and win the game especially at home, it opened up some gaps for us. As long as we stayed strong, mentally and physically, it was going to give us an opportunity. Thankfully, the goal came when it did and it was a nice goal."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER JAHMIR HYKA
On the goal:
"I think we made a very good play in that moment, and Marco [Ureña] made a very good pass. I don't know how to explain it; it was just a good touch and a good finish and I'm happy for that. It was just a matter of seconds. Either I have to shoot directly or I make the touch, and I chose to make the touch. It went good so I'm happy."
On the performance:
"I was confident that we would score in this game. If it wasn't me, maybe somebody else, but I think we started the game very good. We showed that we were here to take points and we did a good job."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER DAVID BINGHAM
On preparing for the match:
"I think we knew what we were getting ourselves into tonight. [Assistant coach John] Spencer did great video for us, and they played exactly how we expected. They are a great pressing team, and we knew if we could get past the first 45 minutes that their press would start to break down. It did, and we were able to make some passes. Hyka has a world class score and we were able to hold out for the win."
